My earliesrt recollection is going to the beach with my family, Jones Beach and the Dr. D. L. Rogers Memorial Park Town Beach in Bolton Landing on beautiful Lake George. It would be an all day affair, covering our LP albums with aluminum foil and lathering baby oil with iodine on our bodies so that we would get the perfect tan (certainly not a smart thing to do in hindsight). Today we're much more aware of the dangers of UV rays and protect ourselves accordingly.
My 'Toes in the Sand' have discovered other beaches that have become favorites, Arashi Beach in Aruba, Field #2 at Robert Moses Beach on Long Island, and the magnificent beach off the boardwalk on the Jersey shore in Seagirt, NJ.
A swimming pool is fine for that occasional dip, but these 'Toes in the Sand' will always favor the pumice-stone feel of the sand between my toes on almost any beach in the world.
