Toes in the Sand - Thoughts & Musings

Our reading time is precious and there is so much out there vying for our attention.  One of the things I always tell my reading groups is to follow Nancy Pearl's 'Rule of 50' when choosing a book.  It goes like this:

"Time is short and the world of books is immense.  If you're 50 or younger, give every book about 50 pages.  If you're over 50, (which is when time gets even shorter), subtract your age from 100 -- the result is the number of pages you should read before deciding.  At 99, that first page would be all-important."
